Dan & Marissa
Ya Ya Farm & Orchard
Longmont, Colorado
08/30/20
Marissa + Dan’s wedding day began at the St. Julien hotel in Boulder, and later they went to Ya Ya Orchard for their Longmont farm wedding.
Their story begins on a fresh, beginning-of-summer evening when Marissa was out for drinks in Denver with her best friend, celebrating her cross-country move. She had just left the big city in NYC for the Colorado mountains, and her bestie was there to have some fun while they explored the new city.
At one of the cocktail bars they stopped at, Dan spotted them from across the room, his eye caught by their New York style + edge. After striking up a conversation with Marissa, they realized they both grew up in neighboring towns in Maine, causing an immediate connection.
After Marissa came out for the first look with her parents, she gave them gifts along with letters + some favorite photos from her childhood. “I just can’t take my eyes off of you,” her dad said.
They were wonderstruck by the idea that they could live so close to each other their whole lives + then meet on the other side of the country. But sometimes, the best stories are the ones with mysterious coincidences.
Later that same evening, Dan met up with them at the dance bar. After some gin + tonics + kisses on the dance floor, they got lost in conversation talking on Dan’s apartment balcony overlooking the skyline. Dan was so into her vibe + knew immediately she was the kind of person he could commit to. He loved her drive, her independence, and her passions aligned with his.
Although she had just moved to Denver ten days before they met, Marissa knew she didn’t want to date around anymore either + was loving what her + Dan had.
After dating for a year, they created their own Thanksgiving tradition of traveling somewhere for the holiday + having a nice dinner. For their first trip, they went to Napa.
The two were just sitting on the patio after dinner enjoying their time together when and a waiter appeared out of nowhere, set two glasses of wine on the table, announced the name of the wine, “10 Year Tawny,” and disappeared into the abyss. It was a magical moment they’ll never forget. Dan took advantage of the moment + asked Marissa to move in with him.
The next year, they planned to have their Thanksgiving dinner in Palm Springs. Dan initially wanted to propose on top of a hike, but unexpected freezing cold weather killed the vibe. So he pivoted plans + at dinner, he ordered them two glasses of 10 Year Tawny, placed the ring in front of Marissa, and said, “let’s get married.”
Marissa’s dad officiated the heartfelt, emotional ceremony of Marissa + Dan while their closest people witnessed their promises in the stunning orchards.
“We both love to go find new places + put ourselves in situations where we can discover things together. We are our best selves together.”
Since they went out for tacos on their first official date, it was only fitting that they had an adorable taco truck serve dinner at their wedding.
