Brittney & Josh
Red Feather Lakes, CO
07/17/20
Josh and Brittney began the day getting ready in mountain cabins for their Red Feather Lakes wedding.
Their story begins when Brittney was trying to set up a friend on a blind date by looking through photos on her other friend Steph’s phone.
When they found a possible match, they texted the friend to ask if she would ever go on a date with a guy named Josh Stewart, and the friend said absolutely not, to which Brittney replied, “Good, because I think he’s cute.”
At the same time, Josh’s friend brought up a girl named Brittney that he thought Josh would like and implored that he take her on a date. Josh respectfully declined.
This friend of Josh’s, named Dave, just happened to also be Brittney’s pastor, because they unknowingly went to the same church.
So finally Steph texted Josh to ask if he would be interested in going on a blind date with her friend Brittney. Since this was the second time her name was brought up, he finally agreed.
After the first look, they shared some private vows.
He called Brittney to meet up for their first date at Union Station. Brittney had her excuse to leave from the date ready, saying she had to be somewhere at 5pm. But luckily she didn’t need her out, because their date ended up lasting five hours.
At the end of the night, Josh became a little unsure on how to end the date since he’d never gone on a blind date before. With an awkward ending, Brittney sadly was sure they would never go on another date.
Then they washed each other’s feet (which was really difficult in a wedding dress).
“I f*cked it up.”
Josh was recalling their date to Dave the next day. Dave just encouraged Josh to text Brittney again and say he really enjoyed spending time with her, so he did and it made Brittney really happy (guys going on blind dates, take note). So then they went on a few more dates 🙂
A month later, they found themselves officially together, making out on New Years at 3am.
While the groomsmen prayed over Josh, the bridesmaids obviously took shots of mezcal in personalized glasses.
There was a little mishap when the guys decided to pick up Brittney for a photo.
They had a few months of puppy dog love, and then on St. Patrick’s day, possibly after one too many Guinnesses, Brittney told Josh she wanted to marry him. The feelings were real, but their relationship still had some seasons to weather.
They went through the ups and downs of love over the next couple of years, learning how to communicate, push through uncomfortability, and share the most intimate parts of their hearts.
Josh surprised Brittney on a beautiful wintry hike with a proposal.
They held their wedding ceremony at Josh’s late granddad’s lake cabin in the woods.
“I really like her eyes. And how much she cares about people. She’s pursued me so consistently, and she’s so fun. She has a spirit of adventure.”
“I love his dad stache. He stays so present. I always have his undivided attention, and that feels very special. He’s so honest, and always tells me how he feels. He asks really great questions.”
“We’re going to choose to love each other and fight for each other even when we don’t want to. And we’re both woo girls, so that’s fun.”
