It is only fitting that James + Kelsey, two incredible people in pursuit of a life off the beaten path, met on top of a mountain one early summer day.
Mount Evans, one of Colorado’s famous fourteeners, coincidentally beckoned both James + Kelsey to its peaks–James, late the night before, had agreed to go ski it with a friend, and Kelsey and her friend from out of town, Janie, wanted to enjoy the views on a Saturday morning, opting to drive to the top.
At the top of the mountain, James approached Kelsey + Janie to take a photo of him + his friend. They swapped some photos for each other + got to talking, but it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. The two parted ways taking as began James snowboarding down the mountain.
As James snowboarded down, he snuck a glance back at Kelsey to see if she was still watching, but as he did, his snowboard caught in the snow + he ate it. Hard. Kelsey was indeed watching + saw the entire thing happen.
On the girls’ way down from the mountain, they stopped at an alpine lake where James eventually caught up with them, running up with a goofy grin on his face, asking if they had seen him fall. They laughed + let him know they in fact did, and they talked some more.
Kelsey decided James was most likely was not a serial killer due to him being acquainted to a few of her friends from Denver Seminary, and James invited them to join him at the Pearl Street Market the next morning after church, giving Kelsey his number.
Their first brunch turned into many following hangouts, where James + Kelsey’s initial friendship began to unfold. The next month, James joined a 100-mile mountain biking race, and asked Kelsey to be his crew chief. Neither of them had any idea of what they were getting into. James successfully completed the race + they found themselves in one continued adventure after another.
The peak of Mount Evans could be seen from Kelsey’s bedroom window during her time at Seminary, and it had come to symbolize God’s kindness + goodness. It served as a reminder that He does, in fact, give His children good gifts + that He cares for them deeply.
Kelsey + James’s meeting is one that has come to be something neither of them can deny as some good ole holy divine intervention.
Their wedding took place at the height of autumn in their hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado. They tied the knot at their favorite coffeehouse in Old Town, Everyday Joe’s.
Their day wouldn’t be complete without taking their pup Lady on a little walk.
After dinner , James + Kelsey incorporated James’s Korean culture into their reception. It was the most special moment for James’s mom when the two bowed before her in their traditional Korean wedding outfits.
