Katie & Kirk
Backyard Wedding
Longmont, Colorado
09/20/20
It was an early autumn day in September when Katie + Kirk’s long awaited wedding day finally arrived in all its glory. They had shifted venues, dates, and basically all their plans prior to the wedding three different times since COVID arrived. Due to being in the middle of medical school, Katie ended up taking one of her biggest exams two days before the wedding.
The pearls Katie wore were formally her late grandmother’s, still accompanied by an original note from her grandfather.
After they were all ready for the wedding, Katie + Kirk met up at one of their favorite spots in town.
Their story began as Katie moved to her new town of Lubbock, Texas for college. Their paths crossed one night at their church small group, and Katie was immediately curious to get to know more about Kirk.
Unbeknownst to her at the time, Kirk was wondering about her as well, so he decided to join Katie’s softball team. One night, they were just hanging out + talking when they realized they had both lived in Katie’s hometown of Longmont, Colorado. She immediately felt at home with him.
Eventually, he got up the courage to ask her on their first official date to an art event in downtown Lubbock. And that was the beginning of their forever.
Katie + Kirk were married at the most dreamy autumn ceremony at Katie’s childhood home, celebrating in the sprawling backyard overlooking the mountains. Kirk’s brother officiated their ceremony.
“We’ve had a long and sweet journey of joy, pain, arguments, resolutions and love. I had the absolute joy of asking my favorite girl to be mine forever.”
“My journey to Lubbock has brought me some amazing friendships, tough lessons learned, and experiences I wouldn’t trade for the world, but the best gift of all has been Kirk. He is quick to forgive, patient beyond measure, and exudes a quiet confidence that is contagious.”
