After working at the same paramedic companies for two consecutive jobs, strangely the Liz + Chris had never met, although they were always hearing about each other. They worked on the same shift but on opposite days, so finally, after four months, their jobs started having more of an overlap + they got to meet.
Anytime they found themselves with downtime at the station, they would just sit + talk together. Liz switched companies so they didn’t get to see each other as often, which spurred on some hangouts outside of work, and eventually those hangouts turned into dates.
Once they moved in together, they decided to get a fur pup child, and named him Elvis. After a year together, on Christmas, they opened their presents to each other + laughed after realizing they both got one another a trip to Glenwood Hot Springs. After falling in love with the hot springs, it became a tradition.
One year, they were about to go on their annual Christmas hot springs trip, and Chris’s mom wanted to get her nails done with Liz, which made her a little suspicious, but she stayed curious.
Their fall Rocky Mountain wedding was a vision so beautiful it could’ve been out of a painting. It created the perfect mood for their day.
Once they were on their trip, they decided to go on a hike. As they rounded a corner + reached the top, they were met with a gorgeous sweeping view of Glenwood, the sun shining down on them, and it was a perfect moment. And that was it. There was no proposal, which surprised Liz because she kind of expected it.
But a few nights later, on their traditional fancy dinner for the trip, Chris asked her to go on a walk before dinner to see the Christmas lights in town. However, the walk ended up being a bit frigid, making Liz rather cranky. Chris knew his time was ticking, so he made a move. He reached down to tie his shoe, and, looking up at Liz, said, “While I’m down here, will you marry me?” to which she angrily replied “No!” but she smiled + took her glove off for him to put the ring on. They headed to dinner to celebrate.
“He is very patient with me, which is not always the easiest thing because I’m stubborn. In the moments when I think, ‘how on earth could anyone love me? I’m so weird and crazy,’ I look over at him + I can just see the love in his eyes. It’s the little things, like him tidying up the house for when I get home from work, or bringing me something at work if I forgot it. He’s got an okay beard, which is good.”
“Just who she is, inside and out. She’ll drop whatever she’s doing to do anything for anybody, but even more for me. She’s amazing for the environment + everyone who lives in it–she’s super conscious of everyone around her. She’s super sweet to me, she loves me so well. She’ll do anything to put a smile on my face.”
Everyone gathered inside the ranch for a cozy fireside evening of celebration as the rain poured outside.
